People are cringing over this couple awkwardly splitting the bill on First Dates Ireland last night

She’s not an ATM, Kari!

WHILE IT’S FUN to see people get on swimmingly on First Dates Ireland, sometimes it’s even more fun to hide behind a cushion as they don’t. Last night’s episode was full of those moments.

Half-Irish, half-Icelandic Kari and gymnastics coach Camille were paired up, and had some very awkward chats about veganism and skinny dipping.

They agreed to split the bill 50/50, but Kari made a big faux-pas in the eyes of the viewers by asking her to give him cash so he could pay by card.

“Actually, I have to pay by card because I don’t have the…”
“So I’ll give you cash then?”
“Yeah.” *awkward silence*

Ohhhh dear.

“Mean vegan Icelandic pox.” Steady on!

But it wasn’t just Kari and Camille – it was particularly awkward evening for quite a few couples in the restaurant.

Farmer George met Guinness tour guide Amanda, who’s heading back to college to do a Masters in Women, Gender and Society.

The pair had a nice chinwag about feminism, then moved on to the importance of deli workers (as you do), at which point George put his foot in it just a tad:

You have a hangover, you go to the deli, she looks at you and she knows how vulnerable you are. I’m saying ‘she’ because mostly…men are bad at making sandwiches. Y’know what I mean. Women are… It was a girl, in my experience.

Meanwhile Amanda is sitting there like, “Hah?”

And everyone at home simultaneously roared “NOOOOO GEORGE.”

Kari and Camille decided they’d prefer to be friends –  but George and Amanda said they would like to see each other again, and have since been on three dates. D’aww.
